Roosevelt Island real estate is hot! reports the New York Observer. The sparsely-populated Island has seen 1,331 new apartments since 2000, with 1,160 more expected by 2013. Even the old insane asylum now boasts luxury rentals. Developer David Kramer bids you hurry, take advantage of won't-last low prices, and thicken the RI herd: the local Starbucks, he says, "isn't crowded enough."
