Fossella Cheered By 200 in Staten Island

He may have driven drunk, raised a child with a woman not his wife, and declined to run again for his Congressional seat, but Vito Fossella remains popular in Staten Island, reports the Staten Island Advance. The six-term Republican turned up at a fundraiser for State Senator Andrew J. Lanza, where he was treated to a "a rock star like reception" by the 200 people in attendance, with Lanza telling the Advance, "Everywhere I go people have approached me to say, 'We want Vito to run...'" Fossella's successor on the GOP ticket, Bon Straniere, was not in evidence. That's Fossella on the right, pictured with Douglas C. Niedermeyer City Councilmember James Oddo.
