Four More Schools Closing

Days after three school closings were announced, four more public schools are getting the ax. Red Hook's P.S. 27, aka Agnes Y. Humphrey School for Leadership, will not accept new students, and while most students will be phased out, those currently enrolled in P.S. 27's two-year-old high school program will have to transfer to graduate. One teacher told the Daily News, "They should have closed down the school seven years ago."

P.S. 27 got a "D" in its recent DOH report card; P.S. 150 in the Bronx, aka Christopher School, got an "F," and will also stop accepting students, and its Pre-K, 1st, 5th, and 6th grades will be shut at the end of this school year. "D"-graded M.S. 399 in the Bronx, which was on the state's list of dangerous schools, and M.S. 321 in Harlem, which has suffered declining enrollment, will allow current enrollees to graduate there, with phase-outs complete by 2011.
