Happy Cyber Monday; Cathie Black May Get OK Today; R.I.P. Leslie Nielsen
Welcome back, all...the holiday stretch has now begun in full force. Today is "Cyber Monday," which is another way of saying that lots of people -- 106.9 million, according to the National Retail Foundation -- will be shopping online. 70 million of those will shop online while at work. Ahem. Then again, the whole thing is probably just a marketing gimmick (or at least that's what you tell your boss when caught on Amazon again). [CNN]
• The New York Times continues to compile reactions to the latest WikiLeaks release, this time of some 250,000 American diplomatic cables. [NYT]
• BP will sell $7.06 billion in its assets (its share of an Argentina-based oil and gas company) to help cover costs from the spill in the Gulf. [WP]
• Cathie Black could get the go-ahead today to become next city schools chancellor by way of a waiver approved by State Education Commissioner David Steiner. [NYP]
• R.I.P., funny man Leslie Nielsen, who died last night in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at the age of 84 from complications of pneumonia. You were very important to our early (and, for that matter, later) sense of humor. In your honor...
