Have a Fire-Safety Christmas!
Along with caroling, gift-giving, and binge drinking, Christmas is the season of fire safety. Only the Blog Knows Brooklyn offers a Surge Protector and Power Strip Safety lecture. And here's a cheery late press release: "California American Water Offers Holiday Fire Safety Tips."
In the San Francisco Bay area, authorities planned to outlaw home fires for Christmas Eve, though this was a pollution-related bit of nannying, not made out of fear that people with fireplaces don't know how to use them. They appear to have relented, but Maricopa County, Arizona is still planning a similar ban for Christmas Eve, though after midnight anything goes.
Try, despite your enthusiasm for ancient traditions, to have a safe and conflagration-free holiday.
