Hillary Replacement Series Drags On
With the Caroline Kennedy boomlet faltering, also-runs are coming into the spotlight. The Times has noted the suspiciously campaign-like activity of Representatives Steve Israel and Carolyn Maloney, and today says Andrew Cuomo aide Joseph Percoco has been obliquely bad-mouthing Kennedy to union leaders. "It wasn't a specific Caroline Kennedy conversation," said one of the union men. "It was, 'I can't say he wants you to tell people he wants it, but you should, wink-wink, nudge-nudge, know that he kind of wants it." Cuomo himself is said to have made a call or two, but his people deny everything.
Meanwhile Capitol Confidential notices that there's a "Select Gillibrand" website which pictures gun-toting upstate Democratic Representative Kirsten Gillibrand with a smiling Hillary Clinton and says Gillibrand "will listen to the voices of all new yorkers, and not just the rich and famous on 5th Avenue." The site's ownership info is masked by a proxy service and Gillibrand's spokesman says she doesn't know about it, though the site collects contributions for her non-campaign via Act Blue.
