Jeff Koons Is Not the Owner of All Balloon Dogs

Jeff Koons Is Not the Owner of All Balloon Dogs

Recently we wrote about Jeff Koons' latest lawsuit, against a shop selling bookends shaped like balloon dogs (balloon dogs much like the balloon dogs that Koons, himself, has brought to the admiring public by way of various museums). We wondered: Can one ever really "own" the balloon dog? Or must the balloon dog, by nature, be free? Our answer comes as if on wafting strings attached to floating latex orbs: No. Or, at least, it's not worth the legal bills to prove such ownership. Koons has dropped his suit, allowing Park Life to continue to sell balloon dog bookends, as long as they don't advertise them as related to Koons, which they didn't do in the first place. Also, now they're selling like crazy! [JDoll]
