Julius Smith, 19, Killed in Fight with Friend in Far Rock
DATE: Thursday, March 18, 2010, 4:44 a.m.
LOCATION: Beach 6 Street and Seagirt Blvd., Far Rockaway, Queens.
Julius Smith, 19, of Thursby Avenue in Queens, was shot at the above intersection early Thursday, along with a second 19-year-old man. Smith was shot in the chest. He was taken to St. John's Hospital, where he was declared dead. The second victim was hit in one leg, and was listed at stable condition at St. John's.
The police say that Smith and the second victim actually shot each other after getting into an argument. Smith, they say, was the first to draw gun. He shot the second victim, and the two men then struggled over the weapon. The gun fired again during the struggle, fatally striking Smith.
The New York Post says the fight started while Smith and the second victim were sitting in a 2009 Mazda.
