Leah McSweeney's Tale of Triumph: From Missing Teeth to Millionaire Matchmaker
Who doesn't love a classic rags-to-riches story, or, in a modern turn, a police-violence-to-merchandising-riches-to-anticipated-abuse-at-the-hands-of-a-television-matchmaker story? Take the New York Post's update on Leah McSweeney, who was shoved into a subway grating by an NYPD cop in 2002 after throwing a bottle. She lost two of her teeth, but undeterred by -- in fact, one might say, because of -- that, she went on to get $75,000 from the city, which funded her in her startup fashion line, Married to the MOB.
McSweeney is now a millionaire, focused on the creation of T-shirts that say "Super Bitch," "I Got 99 Problems But a Dude Ain't One," and "Men Are the New Women" (think about THAT for a minute). And, she's scheduled to appear tonight on The Millionaire Matchmaker.
Clouds part, angels chorus.
Still, despite -- in fact, one might say, because of -- McSweeney's upward trajectory into success and fame and getting to make T-shirts with semi-offensive anti-male messages, she too has trouble with the dudes!
She told the Post,
"It's really hard for me to find guys. If a guy is as successful as me, I'll barely have time to see him, and he'll barely have time to see me."
If anyone can fix this, it's Patti Stanger. Who is probably really missing L.A. right now.
