Looks After Neighbor, Is Slain in L.I.C.
Michelle Koutsoubelis of Long Island City had noticed a stranger skulking around the neighborhood, peeping into car windows, so when she had to go out to her own car last night, she asked her neighbor and friend, retiree Nicholas Nowillo, to walk her. Nowillo accompanied Koutsoubelis to her car and she drove off. When she came back shortly thereafter, she saw the stranger who had worried her, later identified as Eric Cherry, knocking Nowillo to the ground, and beating and kicking him. Nowillo suffered a heart attack and died. Police apprehended Cherry, evidently a crackhead, nearby, reports the Daily News.
