Lower East Side Rapist Targets Clubgoers
Cops are on the hunt for a rapist who has targeted two women in the last month outside The Box cabaret on Chrystie Street. Police say the predator abducts his victims outside the nightspot and drives them to a remote location where he rapes and robs them.
The first attack occurred on September 30 at about 3 am when a 25-year-old woman was grabbed from behind outside of the club on 189 Chrystie Street, forced into a white SUV, made to drink an unknown substance that the Daily News identified as the date rape drug GHB, driven to Forest Hills where she was raped and sodomized. The rapist then forced his victim to remove money from an ATM before leaving her in Queens.
The second attack occurred just last Saturday night also at 3 am when a 23-year-old woman who was hailing a cab after leaving The Box got into a black sedan, perhaps, thinking it was her ride, police said. Once inside the car, the rapist drove the woman to Red Hook and raped her. He also stole some of the woman's property before driving her back to Manhattan and dumping her out of the car.
The suspect in the first attack was described as a white male, 25 to 30 years old, 5'8", and 180 pounds. The suspect in the second attack was described as a white male in his 40s, 5'11" and 200 pounds. Police theorize that one man is responsible for both crime. Police released a sketch and a surveillance camera images of the suspect and ask anyone with information to call 800-577-TIPS. All calls are kept confidential.
