Madoff Apologizes to Neighbors, At Least
Bernie Madoff was good enough to apologize to his neighbors at the 133 East 64th Street where he has been relaxing between court appearances. "Dear neighbors," says the note left for Madoff's fellow tenants and obtained by the New York Times. "Please accept my profound apologies for the terrible inconvenience that I have caused over the past weeks. Ruth and I appreciate the support we have received. Best regards, Bernard Madoff." The Times had no luck finding anyone who would admit to offering Madoff support, though it was reported that the building's super had "been handled, and generously" over the recent holidays. The super himself "declined to comment." No one knows you when you're down and out.
