Man Proposes to Girlfriend Via East Village Mural
They actually make guys like this? 28-year-old Jeff Gurwin flouted the silly on-one-knee tradition and proposed to girlfriend Caitlin Fitzsimons, 27, by having a mural painted on Avenue A and 2nd Street. She said yes, thankfully. Would have been mighty awkward if this thing was up there and she'd said no!
Here's a closeup (our Jen Doll went and took pics this afternoon, and had a chat with Gurwin):
The pug is for Caitlin's mom's dog. His name is Parky. The Scrabble design is because Jeff loves Scrabble and got Caitlin into it.
Caitlin was walking to meet Jeff for dinner yesterday when she saw the mural. She cried. And now they're getting married! So yay! It'll be up for a month, so go check it out and be reassured that romance is not dead.
