Man Who Wanted Wife's Hand Hacked Off Gets 2 Years
Rockefeller Auguste, readers may remember from August, felt poorly used by his young bride. and police caught him trying to arrange for a hitman to kill her and bring back to him her hand -- along with the $27,000 diamond ring that he had given her, and which she was presumed to be wearing on said hand. Now he says "I regret the situation that I had" -- at least that's what he told the judge who today sentenced him to two years. Auguste's hitman turned out to be an undercover cop, making for an unusually speedy resolution to the case. Auguste's lawyer said his client had been under a lot of pressure and experienced money troubles, which is to expected from a man who had given away not only a lavish ring, but also the samurai sword he gave the officer to sever his wife's hand, though maybe he intended to return both for a refund (the ring and the sword, we mean). His wife's whereabouts are at present unknown.
