Mandatory Evacuation Ordered for Ground Units in Hoboken
Hoboken's Mayor Zimmer has ordered the evacuation of all residents who live in apartments or homes located on the ground floor in response to the imminent arrival of Hurricane Irene. The city has also banned the sale of alcohol after 8pm and "driving of personal vehicles, including taxis will also be prohibited after 8pm." Evacuees who have nowhere else to stay can go to the Wallace School at 1100 Willow Avenue. "Designated bus pickup locations will are at 3rd and Jackson, 1st and Bloomfield, 5th and Willow, and 12th and Hudson. Buses will pick up residents at 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, and 6pm and transport them to the Wallace School." [HobokenNJ.org]
