March of Millions in Cairo; King Abdullah II of Jordan Dismisses Government; Winter Storm Warning Through Wednesday

• The scale of protests in Egypt continue to rise. Hundreds of thousands of people rallied in Cairo's Tahrir Square on Tuesday as part of a planned march of millions; "tens of thousands" joined them in Alexandria to demand President Mubarak's departure. Meanwhile, foreign commerce, tourism, and banking have "all but halted," paralyzing Egypt's economy and putting further pressure on Mubarak. [NYT]

• The Egyptian army has released a statement saying they won't use violence against citizens, and that "The presence of the army in the streets is for your sake and to ensure your safety and wellbeing. The armed forces will not resort to use of force against our great people." [Reuters]

• The U.S. State Department has ordered that all non-emergency personnel evacuate Egypt. [Yahoo]

King Abdullah II of Jordan has dismissed his government after protests calling for political reform and appointed Maarouf Al Bakhit as the country's new prime minister, asking him to take "practical, swift, and tangible steps to launch a real political reform process." [CNN]
