Mayor's Post-Groundhog Biting Comments
We love holidays, so let's extend Groundhog Day with this video of Mayor Bloomberg's unsuccessful encounter with Charles G. Hogg on Staten Island yesterday. Even the lofty Times made space to report the Mayor's comments upon being evaded, then bitten by the recalcitrant rodent. "Given the heightened response against terrorism," said Bloomberg, "and clearly in this case a terrorist rodent who could very well have been trained by Al Qaeda in Afghanistan, I'm not at liberty to say any more than that." Hey, a joke about the War on Terror -- we guess everything has changed, again. The Post quoted a more characteristic Bloomberg remark after the debacle: "This is going to be a very long winter for the Staten Island Zoo."
