Michael Moore Will Visit the St. Mark's Bookshop Thursday
The St. Mark's Bookshop, which is still in talks with Cooper Union over a possible eviction, has announced that Michael Moore will make an "impromptu" appearance to sign books at the store tomorrow night from 7 to 9 p.m.:
St. Mark's Bookshop is thrilled to host a book signing with Michael Moore for his fantastic memoir HERE COMES TROUBLE this Thursday 9/29 at 7pm. We'll have a mic on hand for Mr. Moore and plenty of copies of the book for sale. So try not to get arrested protesting Wall Street and join us!
Moore joined the Occupy Wall Street protesters earlier this week, making him something of a celebrity for the city's causes de jour.
As for the latest on St. Mark's Bookshop, they've been informed that their request to have their rent reduced from $20,000 to $15,000 a month will be addressed by the Finance and Business Affairs Committee of Cooper Union. A report is expected by the end of October.
They write on their Facebook page:
At this point we're optimistic because of the groundswell of support from so many people. We have over 36,000 people to thank. Please continue to help by stopping in and buying a book, magazine, or postcard -- we're open till midnight. Or you can visit us online at www.stmarksbookshop.com
