Mixed-Martial Arts Still Banned, Headlines Containing 'KO' Ensue (Just Like This One!)
Albany pols announced yesterday that a bill legalizing mixed-martial arts wouldn't even make it to the Assembly floor for a vote, as detailed by the Wall Street Journal (H/T City & State.)
MMA has been banned in New York since the mid-1990s and the sport's boosters have since worked to overturn the rule.
An Ultimate Fighting Championship spokesman had this to say reporters: "We've been knocked down before, but we'll keep fighting."
('Knocked down.' 'Fighting.' See what he did there? GET IT? GET IT?)

Anyway, the UFC flack isn't the only one with an, uhm, flair for fightin' words.
A headline on an Associated Press story (via Wall Street Journal) reads: "MMA drops another round in NY; no vote expected."
From Fox: "Mixed Martial Arts KO'ed in New York."
Gothamist's take? "Mixed Martial Arts Legalization Choked Out By Sheldon Silver"
