Morning Links: President Obama to Nominate Elena Kagan to Supreme Court, Lena Horne Dies, More Betty White

• Wear a jacket: It's cold out there! 44 degrees and sunny, with a high expected of 64. The forecast is back up to the 70s for the weekend.

• This morning President Obama will nominate Solicitor General Elena Kagan as the nation's 112th justice. Kagan, 50, was the first woman dean of Harvard Law School. "If confirmed, she would be the youngest member and the third woman on the current court, but the first justice in nearly four decades without any prior judicial experience."

• A series of mapping missions over New York City is expected to yield the most detailed 3-D picture of the city to date, "with an emphasis on data relevant to the city's emergency response system and its environmental goals."

• Lena Horne, jazz singer and actress, the first black performer to be signed to a long-term contract by a major Hollywood studio, died yesterday at New York-Presbyterian Hospital at the age of 92.

• Looking to move? Truman Capote's Brooklyn Heights mansion is on the market again. It's -- um -- $18 million. But there are 11 fireplaces (one for each bedroom) and parking space for 4 cars.

• Authorities are trying to figure out what happened with this weekend's Staten Island Ferry crash, which injured dozens. Based on initial interviews, engine conditions appeared normal.

• Betty White's SNL had the show's best overnight ratings in 18 months. And now the network has released additional skits that didn't make it on due to time constraints.
