New Parking Spot App May Signal New Tech Wave
The makers of Roadify probably thought they were stealing a march with their pilot program in Park Slope, by means of which users can trade "points" by identifying open parking spaces to comrades, using SMS and Twitter, which they can redeem for parking spots for themselves. But now the Times is telling us about the Spotswitch iPhone app, with which users send "a geo-tagged alert across the system." We expect this presages a wave of space-spotting tech innovations for our larger-than-expected driver population, and maybe, with the city council apparently anxious to give drivers a break, one of them can be adopted for a citywide program. So keep dishing them out, tech entrepreneurs! There's gold in them there curbs.
