New York Serial Killer Update: Tenth Body Discovered on Long Island Beach
A day of searching the Long Island coast near Jones Beach has turned up not just one, but two additional bodies, both thought to be victims of the New York serial killer who has been tied to four bodies already, all Craigslist prostitutes, with another six found nearby. Newsday reports that today's first set of remains, mostly decomposed and found in a plastic garbage bag, were indeed human. (The first four bodies were found in burlap sacks.) Just three hours later, a human skull was found, but it's unclear whether it belonged to the same person. The first four victims have been identified as Megan Waterman, 22; Maureen Brainard-Barnes, 25; Melissa Barthelemy, 24; and Amber Lynn Costello, 27. Shannan Gilbert, the 24-year-old New Jersey woman, who also worked as a prostitute and set off the search, is still not among the victims, according to police. [Newsday]
