O.J. Simpson Did Not Confess to Oprah; We Repeat: There Is No Confession!
Oprah Winfrey told an audience last week, "I have a dream of O.J. Simpson confessing to me" about the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, but no confession exists at the moment, despite the proliferation of lies on the internet. False reports are currently making the rounds, stemming mostly from this Daily Mail article, which begins, "O.J Simpson has confessed to Oprah Winfrey that he murdered his former wife, it has been reported." The Mail eventually points to the National Enquirer, whose website shows no such report. The Washington Times picked up the fake story, as did MTV News (Canada), among others. Twitter is alight with untruths and shows a fascinating push-and-pull, as it often does, between unsubstantiated rumor, flat-out falsehood and fact.
