Peoplemovers: Facebook with Public Service Instead of Fun
Now there's a social media tool for the age of Obama Socialism: peoplemovers.com, an "online community that helps neighbors, businesses and charitable organizations connect to each other to build better communities." Detroit entrepreneur and Peoplemovers founder Keith Zendler says, "With all this economic uncertainty, we see a need for local communities to come together like never before." Action is sluggish at present, with a few dozen folks requesting volunteers and items such as a "vacuum for co-op preschool," and fewer offering goods and services, but from tiny ACORNs come mighty oaks, and maybe folks will be forced to acknowledge that all the SuperPokes and Movie Compatibility Quizzes in the world can't take the place of community activism, at least after their electricity has been turned off.
