Pilot Dies Mid-Atlantic Flight, "First Officers" Flying It to Newark (UPDATE: Plane Lands Safely)
A transcontinental Continental Airlines flight, the pilot of which died in mid-flight and which is being piloted at present by its two first officers, in due shortly at Newark Airport. The plane left Brussels at about 4 a.m. and its 61-year-old pilot died sometime thereafter. Newark says it will give the aircraft "priority handling" when it arrives. Flights at Newark are delayed about two and a half hours.
Update: MSNBC says the plane has just touched down safely. It is elsewhere identified as Continental Flight 61.
