Plaxico Burress Cut by the Giants
After his trial got going (and was delayed) it was expected the Giants would cut wide receiver Plaxico Burress, who shot himself in the leg at a club last year and whom the Mayor wants put in prison. Today the Giants confirmed they have released him. Our own Allen Barra thought Burress' strengths on the field outweighed the baggage he carries, and so did his teammates (well, on the record, and not all of them) and the Players' Association, but apparently the Giants don't see it that way. No reason was given. Photo (cc) tedkerwin.
