Police Impersonator Wanted for Larceny, Police Impersonation

The NYPD is asking for the public's help locating Bension Mamedov, 36, for impersonating a police officer while committing a larceny. Mamedov wears a police shield around his neck and an NYPD jacket, enters stores (usually pharmacies, though he's also played this trick at a Banana Republic), removes items from shelves, and takes them to the register, where he says he's a cop and returns the items as if he bought them. He's hit stores on the Upper East Side, Chelsea, Staten Island, Brooklyn, and Queens. Mamedov, pictured, is 6'0" and 210 pounds. Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
