Police Nab Suspects in Pace University Killing
Police have arrested two men in connection with last month's drug-related killing of a 21-year-old Pace University student who was dealing drugs from his downtown apartment, authorities announced yesterday.
Max Moreno was shot to death in his Financial District apartment on September 29 by two men who were caught on camera leaving the building. Police released the surveillance video to enlist the public's help in finding the suspects, and yesterday arrested Raymond Rizzo and Randy Colon, both 30, for the murder.
Rizzo was apprehended in Brooklyn, but Colon -- who lives in the East Village but was arrested in Pennsylvania -- is awaiting extradition.
Police have said they believed Moreno was selling drugs in his apartment, and that the murder occurred shortly after he sold marijuana to a couple earlier that night (leading investigators to believe he may have been set up).
Rizzo will be arraigned on 12 felony counts, including various degrees of robbery charges, burglary, assault, possessing a loaded firearm, and -- of course -- murder.
