Queens Robbery Crew's Getaway Car? A Silver Mercedes.
Cops are still seeking a crew of armed robbers who may have pulled at least eight robberies of people and places in Queens. Their getaway car may very well be a silver Mercedes-Benz.
Why shouldn't they drive a Mercedes? They're successful — at least so far.
Here's a shot of one of them at a Dunkin' Donuts they ripped off on January 8. He just looks like a punk. Keep reading for details.
The first incident in this string, cops say, took place in the wee hours of December 22, when an armed robber driving a silver Mercedes pulled into a gas station off the Van Wyck and snatched money from a 57-year-old customer. The gas station's at 111-26 Van Wyck Expressway, just north of Hillside Avenue in Kew Gardens.
Five minutes later, cops say, four guys stuck up the La Quinta Hotel at the same address. One guy entered the hotel and asked for a room. He returned a short time later with three pals, one of who wielded a black gun. They grabbed money from the hotel and fled in a "silver vehicle," cops say. Probably the Mercedes.
They weren't done:
On January 4, at 11:30 p.m., three robbers, one with a black gun, entered a Lucky Food Mart at 248-27 Union Turnpike, ripped off money and fled.
Three days later, the crew really got going.
At 2:20 a.m. on January 7, four guys, one with a black gun, entered the Bellerose Farm Deli/Grocery, 253-01 Union Turnpike, took the money and ran.
Less than two hours later, at 3:45 a.m., two guys, one armed with a gun, walked into the lobby of the Courtyard Marriot Hotel at 145-11 North Conduit Avenue. They took money from the hotel's cash register and, while they were at it, snatched money from people who were waiting in the lobby for a shuttle bus.
That same evening, at 6:30, a couple of guys stuck up the Clarion Hotel at 138-05 Jamaica Avenue, took cash and ran.
The next morning, at 2:55 a.m., five guys, one with a gun, robbed a bodega at 224-01 Union Turnpike.
Barely 15 minutes later, five guys, one with a gun, robbed a Dunkin' Donuts at 196-03 Grand Central Parkway.
The crew is described as consisting of three to five black men, ranging from 5-7 to 6-0 and usually wearing black ski masks and black clothes.
You might not want to mess with their Mercedes.
