Reading: Inside an Old Irish Murder Mystery
The Killing of Major Denis Mahon uses the story behind the murder of wealthy Anglo-Irish landlord to explore the history of the Great Irish Famine—and to explode some myths associated with it.
Peter Duffy, an award-winning journalist based in Manhattan, will be reading from the book, which Pete Hamill called "a splendid example of the new writing of Irish history" at Rocky Sullivans' new location in Red Hook on Monday at 8 pm. He'll be reading from it again on Thursday at 7 pm at the Borders on 57th Street and Park Avenue.
