Rich, Self-Financed Candidate Proposes Campaign Finance Reform
The Mike Bloomberg for Mayor campaign today unveils a proposed "CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM PLAN" and Liz Benjamin is there fast to point out that none of its strictures would apply to the Mayor, who is richer than 100 yacht clubs and whose campaign is self-financed. Also, the proposed two-year ban on "investment advisers" seems tailor-made to burn Bill Thompson, whose similar contributors were reported in the Times this morning. Most of the curbs sound sensible, but are hard to take seriously from the billionaire candidate. Wasn't there another, poorer candidate he could have paid to propose them?
