Roosevelt Island Tram Hearing Offers Many Solutions, No Official Response
Roosevelt Island 360 is not pleased with a hearing about transportation issues attendant on the upcoming renovation of the tram. While officials and experts, including meeting chair Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, were on hand, RI360 reports, they didn't take questions, letting an "RF point and click technology" presentation make their case. RI360 calls for a new meeting, and soon, to "keep the feet of these pols to a deliverable fire date to answer the realities of the solutions offered." Among these were: Alternate V and F train service, an extra car on the F, bike racks on buses, elevator access to the Queensboro Bridge, and -- most fancifully -- express buses to Manhattan and Queens, more subway service, and a second tram.
