Ryan Braun Fails PED Test; Iran Won't Return Drone; MTA Worker Allegedly Stabs Boss
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun has tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug, ESPN reports. Braun, who was last season's National League MVP, reportedly failed a test adminstered during the playoffs. "It's B.S.," the 28-year-old told USA Today. A spokesman for Braun released a statement saying, "There are highly unusual circumstances surrounding this case which will support Ryan's complete innocence and demonstrate there was absolutely no intentional violation of the program." If the charges are upheld, Braun faces a 50-game suspension. [ESPN]
Iranian officials won't return the unmanned American drone it claims to have and has asked the U.N. to condemn the United States' "acts of aggression." CNN reports "one U.S. official said the United States can't be certain it's the real stealth drone," and another person with knowledge of the situation says, "a big question is to how the drone could have remained virtually intact given the high altitude it is believed to have crashed from." Still, the sources maintain, "there's no reason to think it's a fake." [CNN]
An MTA foreman is alleged to have attacked his boss with a knife in The Bronx, the Post reports. Alex Davis reportedly showed up to work late and got in an argument with senior supervisor Kenneth Palacios. "Davis whipped out a knife and plunged it into Palacios' stomach," a witness told the Post. Palacios underwent surgery and is "in good condition healthwise," his wife says. [NYP]
Baylor Quarterback Robert Griffin III won the Heisman Trophy last night at a ceremony in Times Square. ESPN reports Griffin, a redshirt Junior, "has set 52 school records in passing, rushing and total offense." He becomes the first Baylor Bear to win the award, but he was largely unrecognized before the season began. [ESPN]
