Sarah Palin's Expected Facebook Response to Family Guy Guest-Stars Bristol Palin
Keeping to her program, Fox commentator Sarah Palin used Facebook again today to complain of a joke on the Fox cartoon Family Guy, in which son Chris dates a well-spoken but fussy young woman with Down Syndrome who reveals her mother to be "the former governor of Alaska."
For variety, Palin enlisted her daughter Bristol who, after her mother expressed "disappointment" that the show "mocked [Birstol's] baby brother, Trig (and/or others with special needs)," asked, "As a culture, shouldn't we be more compassionate to innocent people -- especially those who are less fortunate? Shouldn't we be willing to say that some things just are not funny?"
The younger Palin also called the show "particularly pathetic" and its writers "heartless jerks," the latter insult being derived from an old slang expression for small-town people, for which, as family members of people living in small towns, we demand an apology.
We congratulate Fox on this synergistic achievement, and look forward to a long-running feud between Palin and Family Guy's Seth MacFarlane in the manner of Fred Allen and Jack Benny, or at least of David Letterman and Bryant Gumbel.
We further suggest that when Palin succeeds in getting people to stop saying retarded, she join forces with those who seek to end the use of "autistic" as a punchline, and hasten the glorious day in which jokesters looking for synonyms for stupid will be forced to say "differently-abled."
