What was the most fun thing you did this summer? I went to the tackiest wedding I'd ever been to. The flowers were fake, the bridesmaids wore denim dresses, and the bride was six months pregnant. They'd postponed the wedding twice already because the bride was battling cancer. Her dress had panels that accommodated her pregnancy. I caught the artificial bouquet of plastic daisies.
What was the least? My cat died very suddenly.
What's the best or worst thing about summer in New York? I love summers here because there's so much music and performance on the streets and in the subways.
Occupation Recent graduate
What was the most fun thing you did this summer? I graduated from high school. That was a big deal. The other thing was that I survived Angelina Jolie getting married. Now I can stop obsessing about her and buying all the magazines with her on the cover.
What was the least? My girlfriend and I got engaged, then unengaged. I found out she'd been cheating on me. Now she's in the hospital with something. I have to pretend things are OK until they actually are, and in the meantime, I've got to get a job.
What's the best or worst thing about summer in New York? The best is that all types of people are on the streetpunkers, rockers, business types. Everyone's at the clubs.
Occupation Partner, new company
What was the most fun thing you did this summer? I got out to Fire Island, where I grew up.
What was the least? I haven't been able to enjoy the city because I've had to work.
What's the best or worst thing about summer in New York? I love that the city's quiet on weekends, particularly Sundays. I'm not a baseball fan, but I love sitting in Yankee Stadium drinking beer. I love the light on the Hudson or the East River at dusk or twilight when you come into Manhattan after being away.
What was the most fun thing you did this summer? I took a trip to the Cloisters, and I went to Atlantic City to gamble.
What was the least? My kids had a ball this summer. We went to the parks, pool, Rye Playland, and Sesame Place. They loved it, but it was all a big headache for me.
What's the best or worst thing about summer in New York? It all depends on where you are financially. If you don't have any money, then you're in trouble. Summer's not really for adults.
What was the most fun thing you did this summer? I teach in a vocational school, so I only get two weeks off. I'm on vacation right now. Yesterday I went to Jones Beach. I've been trying to meditate and relax and plan my big winter trip to England.
What was the least? Somebody scratched up my car and didn't leave any kind of note. It was probably an ex-girlfriend who did it.
What's the best or worst thing about summer in New York? The best things are the beaches and Central Park. The worst thing is usually the humidity, because you can't even bear to go outside. I'm barely home and my electric bill is $80 a month.
Occupation Computer technician
What was the most fun thing you did this summer? I went to Rhode Island to the Cliff Walk. The beach there was purple. I'd never seen anything like that. I also went to the movies every week. Scary Movie was the best movie of the summer.
What was the least? I had to work all the time, and there was no sun at all.
What's the best or worst thing about summer in New York? There's nothing unusual about summer in New York. The worst thing is usually the heat, but we didn't even have that.
Occupation Real estate broker
What was the most fun thing you did this summer? Not leaving the city was the most fun. My first year here I went to the Hamptons, but since all I ever wanted to do was live in New York, I've never seen a reason to leave, even after five years here.
What was the least? I worked on the weekends.
What's the best or worst thing about summer in New York? Hands down, the best thing about the summer is the girls. Half-naked, beautiful. For me and my friends, it's all about watching girls.
