Three men who stole over-the-counter allergy medication from a CVS on Amsterdam Avenue yesterday evening struck and killed a woman on West 90 Street while trying to elude police.

Upcoming Events

According to Lt. John Grimpel, the police were given the license number of the Dodge Avenger (the AP) all three robbers (the News) or just two of them (the AP) were escaping in. When a patrol car tried to pull them over (the News), the Avenger took off on Broadway, leaving three crashes in its wake and finally striking a 39-year-old woman crossing the street with a bag of groceries. After that, they abandoned the car and took off on foot.

However many people were in the car, police only got one of them at the scene. The AP is identifying him as the driver. His passenger or passengers escaped, leaving boxes of Zyrtec behind them on the sidewalk, and, witnesses told the News, the woman lying under the car. The victim, who has not been identified, died at St. Luke's Hospital.

Police are still looking for the other two suspects. The alleged driver is in custody, but has not yet been charged.
