"Silly-delphia" "Frillies" Take Game One
"VOTE: ARE THE YANKS IN TROUBLE?" The drama queens at the Post react badly to the Game One loss, and 81 percent of their poll respondents at this writing say yes, they're in trouble. Daily News elder statesman Mike Lupica takes the tip-yer-hat approach: "Lee carried his team the way CC Sabathia has been carrying the Yankees all month." Of course, with six runs, the Philadelphia batsmen were not so heavy a load.
Well, that's what happens when you get too riled up. Tonight the Phillies offer Pedro Martinez, who as we Mets fans know has some gas when the phase of the moon is right, but not otherwise, and his interview yesterday indicates that maybe he is not in his perfect mind, and A.J. Burnett is strong at home.
We leave the rest to the Crazy Yankee Chick, who cares. But we will note first, with pleasure, that Susan Finkelstein, accused of offering sex for tickets (she says she was just "flirting") achieved her happy ending, at least game-wise: the Philly "Chio in the Morning" radio show arranged for her to get free tickets to one of the games at Citizens Bank Park. Let's hope the Fox Sports cameras can pick her out in a crowd.
