• New York is battening down the hatches in preparation for another winter storm. Weatherpeople are estimating that five to nine inches of snow -- possibly even a foot, with some estimates skewing higher -- will fall, starting tonight, and going until Wednesday morning. Flooding in Australia, the worst in 37 years, has killed 10 people. Three quarters of Queensland has been declared a disaster area. [CNN]

Verizon and AT&T are "trading taunts" over Verizon's impending announcement that it will offer the iPhone. For example: "'I'm not sure iPhone users are ready for life in the slow lane,' Mark Siegel, an AT&T spokesman, said in a company statement." Can't we all just get along, guys? [NYT]
