Somebody Got Murdered: A Fatal Shooting in Parkchester (Update)
The city almost made it through the Memorial Day Weekend without a homicide, but alas, it was not to be. On Sunday at about 10:30 p.m., the police arrived on a shots fired call and found a male hispanic, 23, shot in the stomach at 1576 Taylor Ave in the Parkchester section of the Bronx. He was taken to Jacobi Medical Center where he died.
A friend of the victim writes today to tell us that the victim's name was Alex Torres, age 23. The friend, who requested anonymity, says the police arrested someone in connection with the murder. The friend says Torres got into an argument with his killer, who threatened him with a gun. The killer then went home and got another gun and came back and shot Torres.
"Alex was a good kid who did not deserve to be treated this way," the friend says. "It seems as if the value of life is at an all time low. People kill other people for the silliest of reasons. Alex will truly be missed! May God bless him always! Rest In Peace."
