Somebody Got Murdered: Young Father of Two Fatally Stabbed Outside NYE Party

LOCATION: Vicinity of 369 Ashford St., East New York, Brooklyn.
A Queens man was stabbed to death early on New Year's Day near the above address in the once murder-plagued East New York section of Brooklyn. Kirk Holgate, 21, of 126th Avenue in Queens, was found with a deep wound to us groin and a gash on his face. He was taken to Brookdale Hospital where he was declared dead at 3:34 a.m.
A second man, 27, was also stabbed in back during the brawl with their assailant. He was listed in stable condition at Brookdale.
The Daily News said the brawl took place outside a New Year's Eve party, and listed Holgate as the year's first murder victim. The married father of two had been recently laid off from his job. It was still unclear what sparked the fight.
