Staten Island Man Calls Cops, Claims to Have Grenades, Is Found Armed With Beer
Some people started drinking early on Super Sunday. One such, having perhaps used the Staten Island Advance's "Staten Island's top Super Bowl Sunday bar bashes" for an agenda, called the cops yesterday afternoon from 231 Nicholas Avenue in Port Richmond, and told them he had a couple of grenades, with which he was going to blow himself up. A SWAT team promptly arrived with riot shields and dogs, only to find the bearded, barefoot, and apparently inebriated occupant unarmed with anything but a can of beer. He was taken into custody before game time.
