Steven Torres Was Arrested in Queens for Killing a Man He Thought Was Hitting On Him
Looks like this summer's spree of hate-related beatings and killings was just the appetizer. Steven Torres, 22, was arrested yesterday in Elmhurst for fatally stabbing a man he thought was hitting on him. Ever Orozco, 69, was stabbed seven times in the neck and chest because Torres thought he was blowing kisses at him. As it turns out, Orozco isn't the only person Torres has stabbed, even this week.
Torres, who lives in the Bronx, copped to stabbing someone in the Lower East Side last week, a man he claims was also making a pass at him. That man survived and was treated for his injuries at Bellevue Hospital.
Torres tried to flee after killing Orozco, but witnesses chased and subdued him until police could arrive.

Torres faces murder and hate crime charges. His next court appearance has been set for October 15.
There is no indication that either of the two men were gay. Orozco had just dropped off his wife of 15 years at the doctor's office when Torres came at him with a knife.
