Suspect in Girl's Disappearance Held; Police Scour Home for Clues
Michael Mele is in police custody in Rockland County, charged with violating the terms of his probation (he had been nabbed in 2007 for "masturbating on women" in a parking lot, says the Daily News), as police continue to investigate his role in the disappearance of Laura Garza. She was last seen early Wednesday morning leaving Manhattan's Marquee club in the company of Mele and another man, who has been cooperating with police. It doesn't look good -- Mele's got bite and scratch marks on him, a big chunk of carpet is missing from his home, and cops have found a machete on the premises.
