Taser Cop Kills Himself
The NYPD officer who ordered the fatal taser strike on a disturbed man in Bed-Stuy last Wednesday has apparently committed suicide. NY1 reports that Lieutenant Michael Pigott was found dead at Floyd Bennett Field, the location of the NYPD's recent training exercises on treatment of disturbed persons, ordered in the wake of the incident that killed Iman Morales, who had been standing at the top of a pull-down gate and swinging a long fluorescent light at police when he was tased by an officer under Pigott's command and fell 10 feet to his death. Piggott, a 21-year NYPD veteran, had been stripped of his badge and gun pending an investigation of the incident.
