Teenage Council Candidate Quits, Throws Support to Kurland
The Littlest City Council Candidate, Dodge Landesman, has abandoned his quest to unseat Rose Mendez and is throwing his support to challenger Yetta Kurland, who is running against council speaker Christine Quinn. 19-year-old Landesman gives City Hall News no reason for his withdrawal, nor does he explain his support for Kurland, who would seem an odd ally: Kurland is a liberal civil rights lawyer, while Landesman leans libertarian and has reportedly been promised an appointment in the administration of Tea Party Republican Alex Zablocki, who is running for public advocate. Nonetheless Kurland is happy to have Landesman's support, and has appointed him Youth Coordinator, saying "People have heard of him and it's really a big deal." Maybe we're returning to the old days of Fusionism.
