Test Your New York Knowledge With the 2015 Village Voice News Quiz
Illustrations by Fred Harper for the Village Voice
Like most years in New York City, 2015 was a bit of an odd bird.
The Mets reached the World Series on the shoulders of a player who earlier in the year was pilloried for his controversial comments. There was a Legionnaires’ disease outbreak that somehow had nothing to do with a man swimming the Gowanus Canal. And while rents continued to climb citywide, with the tentacles of gentrification now reaching as far as the South Bronx, New York’s biggest folk hero was a subway rat who just wanted a goddamn slice of pizza.
Now it’s time to test your memory. We present to you our news challenge: 100 multiple-choice questions ripped straight from the headlines of the year that was in New York. Get the most correct answers and there’ll be a prize with your name on it. Think of it like a hyperlocal SAT, only without the pre-scheduled restroom breaks.
Note: The deadline to take the Village Voice news quiz is 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2015.
(The answer key will appear in our January 20 issue. To try your hand at the quiz, scroll down on the quiz box to see all the questions. This quiz works best on desktop, but mobile users can access the quiz here.)
