The Driver On The Bus Goes "Glug, Glug, Glug..." Then He Crashed Into A House
Admittedly, we're not bus drivers. Fine. Be that as it may, we'll go out on a limb here and assume that if you're only responsibility is to safely drive dozens of children to and from school, one of your main job requirements is that you not be drunk when you do it. We'll venture even further to guess that another job requirement is that you not crash the bus your driving into a house.
Frederick Flowers, 66, allegedly failed to live up to both of those expectations -- and now he's charged with multiple counts of DWI.
About 3:15 p.m. yesterday, while driving five kids home from St. Edward the Confessor School, Flowers passed out and veered into a house on Teibrook Avenue.
It was later determined that he was drunk, authorities say.
The kids on the bus ranged in age from 5 to 8. Luckily, none of them were injured.
Flowers, on the other hand, was in rough shape -- he was airlifted to Nassau University Medical Center. His condition is unknown.
Regardless, he'll be charged with five counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra's Law, five counts of endangering the welfare of a child, five counts of reckless endangerment and two counts of driving while intoxicated.
Authorities are yet to release Flowers' BAC at the time of the wreck.
