The New York Times Weighs In On the NYPD Tapes
Jim Dwyer, the Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist for the New York Times has done a second column on the Adrian Schoolcraft affair. His column published yesterday details the exchange between Schoolcraft and Deputy Chief Michael Marino right before Marino ordered him taken forcibly to the Jamaica Hospital psych ward on Oct. 31, 2009
Readers of the Voice will recognize the exchange because it was examined at length in the fourth installment of our award-winning "NYPD Tapes" series published in 2010. Last week, Dwyer penned another column on the Schoolcraft affair, that time about the Voice's disclosure of a secret report which vindicated the officer's allegations of systematic downgrading of crime in Brooklyn's 81st Precinct.
