The Spider Man Broadway Musical is Finally On The Way

The Spider Man Broadway Musical is Finally On The Way

After way too many delays and hold-ups and people not believing this thing is going to work at all, the Spider Man musical (entitled Spider Man: Turn Off The Dark) with music and lyrics by Bono and The Edge of U2 and with a book by Julie Taymor (who did The Lion King which is AMAZING) finally now has a date.

A press release announces:

"SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark" WILL BEGIN PERFORMANCES SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2010 ON BROADWAY

OPENING NIGHT IS SET FOR TUESDAY, DECEMBER 21

TONY® AWARD NOMINEE JENNIFER DAMIANO AS 'MARY JANE WATSON,' AND PATRICK PAGE AS 'NORMAN OSBORN/GREEN GOBLIN' JOIN PREVIOUSLY ANNOUNCED REEVE CARNEY ('PETER PARKER/SPIDER-MAN')

EXCLUSIVE PRE-SALE FOR AMERICAN EXPRESS® CARDMEMBERS BEGINS AUGUST 14 AT 10 A.M. TICKETS GO ON SALE TO GENERAL PUBLIC IN SEPTEMBER

Reminder: Tickets were refunded back in January for what was supposed to be the musical's opening. People really want this to be good. Expectations are extraordinarily high. But what good can come of a project this cursed in a Broadway climate that has even big-name brands like Shrek struggling to survive?

Also:

Tickets are priced from $67.50 - $135 for weekday performances and $67.50 - $140 for weekend performances.

Upcoming Events

For that kind of money, if they don't make your eyes bleed with awesomeness, the producers of this show deserve to be exiled out of New York. Spider Man is a New York Story, it should make a great musical. They better not fuck this up. Here's the website.
