Times Square Shut Down Over Suspicious Package on MTA Bus [Update: All Clear]
A knapsack left on an MTA bus at 49th Street and 7th Avenue has caused a shutdown of Times Square as NYPD and the Bomb Squad investigate. NYPD tells us that the investigation is ongoing, and that people should expect streets to be shut down in at least a two-block radius of 50th and 7th.
Per our friends at NY1, this police activity means that N, Q, and R trains are bypassing 49th Street and that 7th Avenue is closed from 50th to 48th Streets and 49th Street is closed from 6th to Broadway. We'll update as we have more.
Update: NYPD tells us that law enforcement activity has concluded and that the package was deemed safe, but to expect residual delays.
